1880's FIVE PIECE CAST IRON FLOOR TRAIN w/ STEAM LOCOMOTIVE By FRANCIS CARPENTER IN SUPERB ORIGINAL CONDITION. Very rare and wonderful, ca. 1880's, Cast Iron, Five Piece Railroad Floor Train manufactured by Francis W. Carpenter of Port Chester, New York. This late 19th century Cast Iron Floor Train measures 22-1/2" long overall and the Locomotive measures 4-1/2" tall and 2-1/2 wide.

The Floor Train includes the original Locomotive, Coal Tender, two original gongolas and original Cast Iron Train Brakeman/Conductor/Engineer. Carpenter manufactured some of the most desirable American Cast-Iron horse-drawn vehicles and floor toys from 1880 to 1890.

Carpenter's toys included what many collectors view as the creme de la creme of American Cast Iron Toys. This very rare and original Carpenter Five Piece Cast Iron Floor Toy Train in high grade collector condition. All five pieces retain approximately 90% of their original black and red paint as well as the gold gilt highlights. There are no breaks, chips, cracks, physical damage or repairs of any kind to any of the pieces of the Train.

The Train also retains all of the original connectors that link each of the train consist to each other and, as mentioned above, the Toy retains the VERY RARE, BRAKEMAN. While I have owned a number of 19th century Carpenter, Wilkins, Ideal, Dent and Ives Floor Train Locomotives over the past 40+ years, this is the only complete matched very rare Carpenter Floor Train I have ever owned.
