Live steam tender locomotive 0-6-0 LMS 4f LBSC design 1944 Steams well 2.5 gauge
Live steam locomotive and tender. 2 and a half inch gauge. Steams well and runs well.
Spirit fired with a fully functioning mechanical lubricator. Single cylinder with slide valve. Tender body is all brass. Built to an LBSC design FIRS 245 which he published in the December 7 issue of Model Engineer in 1944.
The construction article was titled A Six Year Olds 4F and can be downloaded from the UK National 2.5G Association (n25ga. This is a delightful model of an LMS 4F style suburban tender locomotive. LBSC gifted his model to the six year old son of a family in Kent, in appreciation of their kindness. LBSC completed this design whilst staying with these friends in Kent to avoid the doodle bug (V-1) bombings on London UK in 1944. Page 64 of LBSC His Life and Locomotives by Brian Hollingsworth.
This model was built late 1940s and is a great runner that steams well. It has a proper blast pipe from the slide valve exhaust that gives great draw. Running with a pleasing chuff from each piston stroke.
A solid well made model that will run for years and years. A great performer and delight that children can operate as well as adults. One for the enthusiast and also display.
